Why Natural Granite?

Natural Granite is the classic countertop surface. Offering an unrivalled variety of colors and patterns, each slab of natural stone is a unique work of art produced by nature. This floor and countertop resource has stood the test of time for 1000’s of years. No other surface, including artificially engineered “stone” surfaces can out-perform the durability, beauty and return on investment offered by natural granite.

Misconceptions about Natural Granite Surfaces

HEAT – Unlike engineered stone or quartz countertop surfaces, natural stone is resistant to heat damage at temperatures far higher than those found in household kitchen environments. Most quartz surfaces require the use of trivets or pads before placing hot pans directly on to their surface. Natural Granite will not scorch, mark or burn when in direct contact with heat.

BACTERIA – A lot of misinformation on bacteria has arisen since the conception of engineered stone countertops. Although unsealed granite is scientifically porous in nature, bacteria cannot grow or sustain on bacteria crystals. Bacteria can of course reside on unclean surfaces but this is a cleanliness issue. In dependent scientific testing, the safest countertops against harboring food-borne illnesses are countertops of all granite composition, both engineered and natural. Sealing the surface, further helps to avoid any issues with bacteria growth.

STAINING – Often customers are concerned about the possibility of natural granite surfaces being stained by liquids with the most common concerns being oil, and wine. With normal care, any liquid spilt onto a natural granite surface will not leave a permanent mark. Whilst we seal all countertops we produce, Artelye Marble & Granite is proud to offer its customers an optional staining and performance sealant and warranty option:

StoneAssure™ performance and anti-staining sealant is a proprietary process to Artelye Marble & Granite. The sealant is applied during the fabrication process and deeply penetrates the surface of the granite leaving it impervious to food or beverage products. After the application of the sealant, Artelye Marble & Granite warrants to the original owner of the countertop for a period of 20 years from the original date of installation that the countertop:

• Will be water and stain resistant to common food and beverage liquids
• The stone will be free from material defect
